IIt's the moment everyone in Portland's
been waiting for - the new Eight Foot Tender CD is out: "Stimulus
Package." From the graphics to the production to the SONGS, this
could be the feel-good hit of the summer. I mean, in addition to the
brilliant Oblivion Seekers & Scott "Deluxe" Drake & the
World's Strongest Men CDs that have also been released this summer.
Where was I? So some of these Eight Foot Tender songs were aging to
perfection for awhile, and some are pretty new recordings. It all holds
together very nicely. Some=2 0of my favorite local folks make guest
appearances alongside the Eight Foot Tender quartet - and there's a
half-handful of Jeff Fieldhouse tracks that make their first appearance
here. The album taken as a whole comes off like a 21st century The Gears,
or maybe a great lost band off the Beach Blvd comp. Even though they've
been a Portland Oregon band for at LEAST the last 15 (20?) years, they
sound like southern California, distilled into half an hour of all the
best parts of so-Cal punk. Yeah, even (possibly ESPECIALLY) "Reach Up
High."
There's a few hilarious songs that'll make you laugh out loud. A few
where Fieldhouse gets a little, uh, "edgy." The graphics will
crack you up. And it's a CD that can keep spinning all day long without
wearing out its welcome.
I think the amount of time Eight Foot Tender has been wrecking stages in
Portland makes them one of the longest-lived underappreciated bands
around. I've gone through (or am still in) 5 or 6 bands in the time
they've been together. I'd say get yerself to a local record emporium
& demand this CD. There's a limited pressing available - so get them
NOW! Go to one of their shows & buy one. Or ten. It really is a
contender for album of the year, in Portland or whatever other planet
you inhabit.

FALLING
IDOLS REUNITE!
WELCOME TO LONGBEACHRECORDS.COM!!!
Welcome to Long Beach Records- home of the most
infamous Long Beach punk bands & more!
We know a lot of you are wondering how Long Beach Records is connected
to Skunk Records- so here it is short and sweet:
As the success of Sublime and Skunk took off, Miguel was finding less
time to devote to the punk rock bands still under the Skunk label. In
order to get them the recognition they so deserved, he found a way to
showcase them on a little brother label.
About 5 years ago Miguel (Skunk) and Mudd (Corn Doggy Dog) got together
and came up with a label to release the now historic Long Beach Blvd. A
compilation cd to showcase the side projects of Bud Gaugh and Eric
Wilson.(Juice Bros), while attracting new fans for Corn Doggy Dog & the
½ Pound, Secret Hate, Das Klown and the Pivot Foots.
Today LBR is still the home for Skunk’s punk rock bands and continues to
add to the family while staying true to the roots of Long Beach.
That is why we carry the Skunk logo protected by the independent safety
of the Long Beach Records buoy.
